Breed Profile
The Lurcher is a hybrid dog (also known as a crossbreed). It is a type of dog rather than a breed of dog.
A sighthound, the Lurcher was originally a cross between a Collie and a Greyhound, although it can be any cross, generally between a sighthound and a terrier or member of the pastoral group of dogs. The Lurcher dates back to the 17th century when it was bred by British and Irish travellers to hunt hare and rabbit.
