Lurchers As Pets

Lurchers can make excellent family pets or companion dogs. They are calm, gentleĀ and affectionate and love the company of people. They are also clean dogs with no noticeable ‘doggy’ odour. Lurchers are also excellent with children.

For further information on Lurchers as pets or companion dogs, we are happy to recommend The House Lurcher by Jackie Drakeford, an author who has published many notable books on the subject of the Lurcher.

I rescued 2 lurcher puppies at 4 months old, they are totally mental, but in a good way, they do sleep a lot, but can get into all sorts with out you knowing about it lol, very very clever, not agressive but like the sound of their own barks, and they totally love their home comforts, get a cage because they are eating machines, carpet, grass, plants, bannisters just about anything so but hard chews, plus they get very bored very easily so make sure you have eyes in the back of your head. I would’nt have them any other way :)
